Job Purpose: The Florida State University (FSU) Office of Audit and Advisory Services (formerly known as the Office of Inspector General Services prior to July 1, 2023) is recruiting for the position of Deputy Chief Audit Officer/Director of Audits. This position serves in the absence of the Chief Audit Officer (CAO), as needed, and assists the CAO in fulfilling the mission and developing and implementing long-range goals and objectives for the Office of Audit and Advisory Services (OAAS). The incumbent will perform the full scope of auditing, encompassing financial, compliance, operational, and effectiveness reviews according to our risk-based methodology at FSU and professional auditing standards. This position will also perform special projects and consulting services and assist in investigations of fraud, waste, abuse, or other wrongdoing, etc.

Responsibilities: Provides high-level direction and leadership, develops and implements long-range goals and objectives, achieves strategic initiatives related to applicable auditing functions, and provides advice to the Senior Management, Directors, faculty, and staff.

Responsible for supervising assigned audit staff, implementing the work plan, leading audits, and ensuring compliance with Institute of Internal Auditors Standards. As requested, responsible for supervising investigative staff, assisting in investigations, and ensuring compliance with OAAS Investigative Directives. May assist the FSUPD in conducting investigations, as needed.

Assists in the annual risk assessment process, prepares information to be included in the OAAS annual report, and assists in internal assessments as part of the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program required by the Institute of Internal Auditors' standards. Responsible for conducting follow-ups and preparing follow-up reports for dissemination. Also, provides research and assistance to University entities upon request.

Carries out ad hoc assignments, special projects, and other duties as deemed appropriate by the Chief Audit Officer. Examples of such duties include conducting projects or audits requested by the Board of Governors or FSU Board of Trustees, managing the automated audit system, etc.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in a related area and six years of related professional experience. Must have 3-5 years of supervisory experience. Experience conducting audits or similar types of reviews. Experience working with confidential or sensitive information. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work independently, meet deadlines, and work in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Advanced experience and knowledge of the professional auditing standards (Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics) and the audit profession, theories, and systems of internal control.

Preferred Qualifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation is preferred but not required.

Anticipated Salary Range: $70,000.00 to $105,000.00 to commensurate with experience, qualifications, and salary history.

Pay Plan: This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Criminal Background Check: This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
